We were approached by the New Media department of IUPUI to assist them to create a learning game for the School of Medicine.
Affectworks assisted the students of IUPUI, acting as consultants, how to create art assets for the Unreal Engine and how to build models efficiently and quickly for the engine.
We knew that a lot of people who were going to play this game would not have the latest hardware, so we aimed for a very low polygon models, in a cartoony style so as to save texture memory.
We also didn't want the game to be realistic, as
nurses and doctors did not want to see realistic diseases, so we invented things like "Elvis Syndrome", "Zombie-ism" and other fun afflictions.
This demo was created to secure funds, showcase the game at conferences and to be used by the teachers at IUPUI to show the students working on it, the style of the art the medical school wanted.
